Esther Dyson has proposed that as intellectual property loses value when it is digital, intellectual performance gains value. Just because an object is digital doesn't mean it isn't still an object but it does mean that what it does, its programmability (what it does), becomes more important. The problem Donald Kuspit has with Documenta X is that he is unaware of the extent it is concerned with intellectual performance rather than property.
His only point of reference is "68" and so, of course, he misses the point.
