>Is there really such a direct relation between the value of an art-work and

A point to ponder...
In a test case recently that came through local courts a digital,
interactive installation was burned down in a gallery fire during a group
exhibition. The artist recuped the costs of hardware and physical
objects/materials used in the installation, (computer, tables, audio
equipment etc.) but the judge pronounced the program, although expecially
devised for the exhibition replacable through back-up and therefore of no
monetry value.
